Validity of a Permit

Eligibility Criteria to Apply for the Netherlands Job Seeker Visa

To be eligible, you must fulfill any ONE of these requirements. Check which situation applies to you.

• Situation 1: You carried out research in the past 3 years. You had a residence permit in the Netherlands for research purposes.
• Situation 2: You obtained a master’s degree in the past 3 years in the context of an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course.
• Situation 3: You completed one of the following study programs in the past 3 years:
  • An accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a Dutch higher  education institution.
  • A post-master program in the Netherlands for at least one academic year (at least 10 months).
  • A study program in the Netherlands in the context of the Cultural Policy (Special-Purpose Funding) Act.
  • A study program in the Netherlands in the context of the development cooperation policy of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• Situation 4: You must have completed a master’s degree program, a doctoral program, or a post-master program from a Designated Foreign  Educational Institution.

What is a Designated Foreign Educational Institution?

Foreign students who graduated from a top university outside the Netherlands. A designated foreign educational institution is an educational institution in the top 200 of at least 2 general rankings.

Your educational institution must have been in the top 200. The rankings that include your educational institution must come from at least 2 different publishers.

When You Can Apply?

You must apply within 3 years of completing your studies. Such as a Bachelor, Master, or Ph.D. program.

Required Documents

Take these documents on the day of appointment at the Dutch Embassy:

• Completed Application Form
• Passport and Photo
• You have a valid passport or other travel document.
• After you arrive in the Netherlands, you must take a TB (tuberculosis) test.
• You must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university to apply.

Requirements to Obtain a Netherlands Job Seeker Visa?

• Step 1: Read the requirements for the Job seeker visa from here. This is the official website of the Netherlands Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND)
• Step 2: Select your country, and follow the process. The application process may vary slightly depending on your country of residence.
• Step 3: Read the Requirements for MVV. A valid MVV (Type D Sticker) long-stay visa is needed. This will allow you to travel to the Netherlands and collect your residence permit from there. This is the website for MVV.
• Step 4: Collect Documents. The application form lists which documents you need. Collect all documents before you apply.
• Step 5: Apply for MVV Visa: You apply for the MVV and the residence permit at the same time at the Dutch representation (embassy or consulate) abroad.
• Step 6: Pay the Visa Application Fee
• Step 7: Wait for the Decision. Most decisions are within a 90-days.
• Step 7: You will receive a Decision.
